Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chittorgarh is an extension based grass root level institute established in 1992 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research under the auspices of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, Rajasthan, to promote farmers for adoption of latest technical know-how in agriculture and allied fields. It aims sustainable growth in productivity and income of agriculture by bridging the time lag between technology generation at the research institution and its transfer to the farmer’s field. KVK Chittorgarh is situated in village Bojunda, 8 km. from district headquarter on Chittorgarh by pass National Highway No.79, having total 53.51ha land. Area under crop production is 13.0 ha, under orchards 12.5 ha, under agro forestry 5.0 ha, land under demonstration units and road & building is 3.0 ha and remaining is barren land. KVK has multidisciplinary team of subject matter specialists, who work enthusiastically in missionary spirit for imparting skill oriented vocational trainings for farmers, farm women, rural youth & extension functionaries to update them with latest and proven agricultural research. It also involves in assessment and refinement of locally specific technologies and acting as feedback mechanism for research work.

District Profile

Chittorgarh district is situated in south-east part of Rajasthan and covers a geographical area of about 7.50 lakh hectares. Agro-ecologically the district has been part of Zone-IVA –Sub-humid southern plain & Aravali hill zone. The average annual rainfall of the district is 852 mm. The soils of the district are grey brown loam, medium black, moderately deep and medium to heavy in texture. The major crops of the district are maize, soybean, groundnut, sorghum, cotton and blackgram in Kharif and wheat, mustard, gram, barley and opium in rabi season. Very small area is used for cultivation of fruits (1350 ha) and vegetables (621 ha). Looking to the environmental conditions and suitability of soil, some part of the land may be diverted for cultivation of medicinal crops like safed musli, ashwagandha, ajwan, isabgoal, fenugreek etc.

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra celebrate and conduct awareness programme on International Yoga day (21st June), World food day (16th October), World soil day celebration (5th December) during each year. Also conduct two preseasonal training programme, SAC meeting and other awareness programme for farmers, Farm women and Rural youth during every year.
